The Phoenix Theatre Visits the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium

For the first time since 2019, English-language theater has returned to the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium. On Thursday, January 19th, the Phoenix Theater performed three plays for an eager audience of over 700 students in total. With a focus on “The Art of Language Learning,” the actors used drama as a means of fostering English acquisition.

In the first play, titled The Banana Gang, a young detective worked to stop the infamous Boss from stealing the citizens' mobile phones - with the help of the audience, a few song and dance numbers, and bananas, of course! For the second play, Furious Games, the actors took on a more serious tone and addressed issues such as gun violence, mental health, bullying, and technology use. Lastly, the Phoenix Theater performed their abridged version of Shakespeare's Hamlet alongside Geschwister-Scholl- Gymnasium’s own (impromptu) cast of actors.

A big thank you to the Phoenix Theatre and actors Imogen and James for such wonderful performances. Bravo!
